Blizzard proves need for Streamwood fire station reopening

For almost a year now I have been telling the Village of Streamwood about the issues with Station 31.

The Village closed the station back on April 1, 2010. I warned them that response times would increase and that us residents would be placed in greater danger.

Now recently (a fire department official) said in an interview with the Streamwood Examiner that Station 31 was reopened during the blizzard in an effort to reduce response times.

My question to the village president and the entire board of trustees is how come you only care about response times when it snows? Shouldn't we care about response times ALL the time? Don't response times matter at 2 in the morning on Thursday, just as much as they do at 4 in the afternoon on Sunday?

Are our lives in less danger because the sun is shining? If the weather affects our fire department that severely, shouldn't the village president do more to help our firefighters?

I'd hate to think that if it were to drizzle outside that I would have to wait for help. I would be safer calling Domino's Pizza, at least they will get there in 30 minutes or less.
