Woodstock teacher faces misdemeanor charge
A teacher and swimming coach at Woodstock North High School was arrested Thursday for allegedly making inappropriate written statements to a student, police said.
Joseph M. Brasile, 49, of the 1000 block of Hibbard Street in Woodstock, is believed to have had “inappropriate nonphysical interaction with the student over a monthlong period ...” which resulted in his arrest, according to a police report.
The exchanges were between January and February, Woodstock Police Sgt. Richard Johns said Friday.
Johns said school district officials informed police about the relationship.
Brasile is a science teacher and the girls' varsity swimming head coach.
He has been charged with disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor.
He was arrested after he turned himself in to police.
The district placed the six-year teacher on administrative leave Feb. 10, when officials became aware of the investigation, Johns said.
Brasile was released after posting bond. His next court date is April 7.
