Mt. Prospect man dies at water treatment plant
A 51-year-old man died Friday afternoon at a wastewater treatment plant in Hanover Park, officials said.
John Fergus of Mount Prospect was pronounced dead at 2:27 p.m. at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The plant at 1200 Sycamore Ave. is operated by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. It’s unclear exactly how the man died, and a sergeant from the district’s police force said Friday night he couldn’t comment.
Hanover Park police referred all calls to district officials, who couldn’t be immediately reached.
An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
