Republican input amounts to ‘no way’

Initially, many Democrats wanted government health care, if not like Canada, at least Medicare for all. Republican input, “no way,” so it never reached the floor. The majority of Congress wanted a government option to keep insurance companies honest. Republican input, “no way,” so it never went to vote. A highly compromised and Republican inputted bill which most Democrats were much less than happy with was put to vote. Not a single Republican voted for it and a filibuster was promised in the Senate, So special rules were needed to pass it.

Now people like Gail Rose want to complain that there was no Republican input into the Affordable Health Care Act. These folks either paid no attention to what went on or got all their news from Fox and right wing talk radio. The only Republican alternative offered was to reform malpractice law and hope for the best and point out that for the very wealthy or those with top level insurance coverage, often paid for by somebody else, the health care system is the best in the world.

Ms Rose also fails to note that AHCA saves significant money over any do nothing Republican input approach.
