Jim Garwood named District 15 Deputy Superintendent

The District 15 Board of Education unanimously voted to name Jim Garwood the District's Deputy Superintendent during its February 9 meeting.

Superintendent Scott Thompson recommended that Mr. Garwood's title be changed to Deputy Superintendent as a way to publicly acknowledge his work within the District and his leadership and responsibility within the organization.

“Over the past few years, Jim Garwood has functioned as a strong stabilizing force that has allowed the District to operate in a successful manner despite some of the changes that have occurred within its administration,” said Mr. Thompson. “His office is located adjacent to mine as a physical acknowledgement of my dependence upon him as the number two in command, and his leadership is evident to administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and community members. So I feel this title change more accurately reflects the role he plays within the District.”

Mr. Garwood has served as the District's Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services since April 2007. Corresponding with his title change, he has been assigned the additional responsibilities of supervising the junior high principals and the Director of Personnel and Human Services.
