Healing Garden part of expansion at Advocate Condell Medical Center

Continuing to enhance services to fully care for the patient's needs has always been the focus of Advocate Condell. The new 175,000-square-foot West Tower demonstrates this commitment to caring for the hearts and spirits of our patients.

The Tower will provide all private rooms for adult inpatients—the only hospital in Lake County to offer this desirable healing environment along with a Heart and Vascular Center.

Patients and their families looking for additional solitude can find it in the West Tower's Chapel and Healing Garden. “As a faith-based healing ministry, Condell Medical Center is committed to treating the whole person: body, mind and spirit.

And studies have shown that spiritual care, in addition to medical care, improves patient healing,” says the Rev. Frederick Rajan, vice president of mission and spiritual care. “From the chapel we will broadcast weekly worship services and live musical performances to the patients' rooms.”

The expanded chapel was greatly enhanced by a donation from the Nemmers family, who were appreciative of care received at Condell Medical Center, says Robert Barto, vice president of development. Eric Lee, a prominent local artist also donated artwork to adorn the hospital.

“Philanthropy is so important to a nonprofit hospital like Advocate Condell Medical Center,” Barto says, “in order for the hospital to continue to provide the latest equipment and excellent medical services for our community.”
