Mount Prospect men charged in armed robbery
Two 21-year-old Mount Prospect men face felony charges after police say they robbed two victims at gunpoint on New Year's Eve.
Cesar Alvarado of the 500 block of East Lincoln Street and Ryan Reed of the 400 block of East Lincoln Street each face two counts of armed robbery, police announced Tuesday.
Alvarado and Reed lured two 21-year-old victims into an apartment on the 400 block of East Prospect at 1:55 p.m. on Dec. 31 under the pretense of selling them a laptop computer, police said.
Once the victims entered the building, Alvarado and Reed immediately pointed a handgun at them and ordered them to lie on the ground, police said.
Alvarado and Reed then took money, cell phones and a set of keys from the victims and fled the scene, according to police.
Alvarado was arrested on Feb. 8, and bail was set at $200,000. Reed was arrested on Friday, and bail was set at $300,000.
Both victims identified Alvarado and Reed as the robbers, police said.
They were both assigned a court date of March 1 in Rolling Meadows.
