Gov. Pat Quinn signs Erin’s Law
Gov. Pat Quinn Monday afternoon made Erin’s Law official, signing the bill into law. Schaumburg woman Erin Merryn, 25, pushed for the legislation, which creates a task force to study childhood sexual abuse in Illinois. Merryn, who was sexually abused as a child by both a neighbor and a cousin, said the task force will develop age-appropriate curriculum to teach students about safe and unsafe touch and the message “how to get away and how to tell today.”
