Illinois’ whipping boys are our local heroes

The snow removal last week was exemplary. City workers working around the clock. This result is much better than 1967 and 1999.

These people in freezing conditions and working incredible hours are the current Illinois whipping boys. They are generally unionized public employees with pensions. After reading the Illinois newspapers these past few months, you would think that instead of carrying and pushing snow they would be bribing legislators and joyfully planning the state’s bankruptcy.

I hope that when you drove to work on Thursday you remembered these local heroes. They are not the greedy enemy ... they are your neighbors. By the way, I hope you enjoyed your mail delivery on Thursday. Postal workers slogged through 3-foot drifts to bring it to you.
