Super Bowl Bites: Christina's flub, sci-fi overload
How about a do-o'er: Christina Aguilera absolutely cemented a spot in Super Bowl history with her rendition of the national anthem. Not only did she skip the line, “o'er the ramparts we watched,” but she then tried to make up for it by warbling, “what so proudly we watched.” Ugh.
Tweet, tweet: To no one's surprise, Twitter went berserk over Aguilera's version, with the harshest criticism reportedly coming from Carl Lewis and Roseanne.
And somewhere: Jay Cutler was feeling a sense of relief.
Just asking: Speaking of the national anthem, what good is a military flyover when the stadium's roof is closed?
It all ads up: OK, we get it. EVERY movie coming out this summer will be of the sci-fi variety.
The beat goes on: The halftime show continued that theme. The Black Eyed Peas entered from the roof and put on a solid performance in front of a crowd of humanoids/aliens. Entertaining stuff, but it can't touch Up with People's tribute to the big-band era at the 1980 Super Bowl.
Been there, done that: Talking babies, driving monkeys, the Fonz, Marcia getting doinked in the nose … all memorable, but the ad most everyone can relate to was the “Reply All” ad by Bridgestone.
And the winner is: The Volkswagen ad featuring a very young Darth Vader.
