Man gets nine years in prison for cocaine sales

A Wauconda man was sentenced to nine years in prison Monday after admitting he sold cocaine to an undercover police officer.

Isidro Rosiles-Arreola, 36, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver during a hearing before Lake County Associate Judge Daniel Shanes.

Assistant State’s Attorney Rod Drobinski said Rosiles-Arreola, of the 400 block of Main Street, made three drug sales to an undercover agent of the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group in November and December 2009.

All three transactions took place in a parking lot within 1,000 feet of Wauconda Grade School, which provided for enhanced penalties upon conviction.

On Nov. 23, Rosiles-Arreola exchanged seven grams of cocaine for $300, and he sold the agent an ounce of cocaine for $725 on Nov. 25.

Rosiles-Arreola was taken into custody Dec. 2, immediately after selling the agent about five ounces of cocaine for $3,600.

Drobinski told Shanes that Rosiles-Arreola had also agreed to forfeit the 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck he drove to all three transactions as part of his plea negotiation.

Rosiles-Arreola faced up to 40 years in prison if he had been convicted after a trial, Drobinski said.
