Prospect Hts. Dollars for Scholars accepting scholarship applications
Prospect Heights Dollars for Scholars is now accepting applications for its 2011-2012 scholarships. Application deadline is Tuesday, March 15, and applicants must be residents of Prospect Heights or Wheeling.
Six $2,000 one-year academic scholarships will be offered, and one $2,000 four-year renewable scholarship, the Charles E. Priester Four-Year Scholarship, will also be awarded. Applicants must be residents of Prospect Heights or Wheeling.
Applications are judged on the following criteria: financial need, academic standing, school activities and community involvement, and a written essay. Applicants must plan to attend and be admitted to a two- or four-year college or university in the 2011-2012 school year, and possess a minimum GPA of 3.9 on a 5.0 scale or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
One $2,000 one-year Nick Teramani Vocational Award is offered. This scholarship is awarded to a high school graduate or graduating senior interested in pursuing a vocational or special interest school/program. Applications are judged on the applicant’s demonstration of a special talent, seriousness of purpose, self-motivation and an ability to articulate a clear vision of their future. Applicants must have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and be enrolled in or plan to enroll in a post-high school program that encourages the development of their talent, passion, or skill.
Application forms are available at the high schools serving Prospect Heights and Wheeling, Prospect Heights Public Library, Indian Trails Public Library and Prospect Heights City Hall.
