Mt. Prospect car-truck crash occurs a block from earlier accident

A car was totaled after it collided with a semitrailer truck on Algonquin Road near Busse Road in Mount Prospect Friday night, a block from another crash that happened earlier in the day.

The car’s windshield was broken, and impact appeared to be on the front driver’s side. Police arrived on scene around 9 p.m., and were blocking traffic on eastbound Algonquin.

An Old Dominion freight lines truck didn’t appear to have sustained damage.

Police did not have immediate details on the condition of the drivers, or if slippery roads contributed to the collision.

Traffic was down to one lane each way on Algonquin because of high snow on the curbs.

Around 8 a.m. Friday, a car stopped in traffic at Algonquin and Dempster Street was hit from behind by another vehicle, pushing it forward into and under the bus. Eleven Holmes Junior High School students on board the bus were uninjured.
