Leaders will pay at next election
Frankly, this is the last draw. All the House and Senate of the state of Illinois know the people of Illinois want transparency, yet they raise taxes by an astounding 67 percent using the people we did not elect in November. This is outrageous. The governor had promised a maximum of 1 percentage point, but none of these people get it.
The people want them to operate the state so we can get out of the mess that the House and Senate put us in over the last 30-plus years.
We understand it takes tough people to make tough cuts that are meaningful to our state. We would like a bright future, but the light is really dim right now. To just do it the way they did is not right, so I agree that we should recall the governor as he is the one who has the power to get the job done correctly, but he is taking the easy political way to do it. And I strongly believe they will spend this extra money on the wrong things — they’ve said nothing.
When was the last time you received a raise in your salary of anywhere near 66.7 percent? All these politicians did is frustrate our small and large businesses so now they will contemplate how they can leave the state, go to Wisconsin or Indiana, and put Illinois deeper in debt. I personally am ready to leave this state, now.
The Daily Herald needs to let the politicians know daily on the front page that the state of Illinois constituents are very frustrated with politics as usual. If they think for a minute they will ever get another term, they are wrong.
