Northern McHenry County still having problems

Roads under the jurisdiction of the McHenry County Highway Department were all passable by 6 p.m. Wednesday with at least one lane open for vehicles, said Mark DeVries, superintendent of the McHenry County Highway Department. Crews spent the night pushing back larger snow drifts from roadways to ditches and also opening roadways.

Problem areas still exist in the northern part of the county, with Route 173 from Route 14 to Route 47 expected to remain closed until at least 1:30 p.m. Jean Locke, a McHenry County Sheriff’s Department dispatcher, said crews would also open the stretch of Route 120 from East Wonder Lake Road to Ringwood Road at about 2 p.m. today. Drivers are asked to use caution on Route 120 as some parts quickly change from two lanes to one lane because of snow, Locke said. Traffic is limited to one lane on parts of Route 176 from Woodstock to Marengo.
