If yes, please explain: Other than minor traffic violations no.Candidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 To increase economic growth and commercial involvement, increasing commercial revenue to keep our community strong and our tax base stable.Key Issue 2 To see community involvement and participation maximized in our parks, community activities and government. Getting the public involved.Key Issue 3 To see the community participate in the community by shopping within and improve the ""Shop Lake In The Hills"" program. This again improves the sales tax collected that comes back to the Village.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?I am a 12 year resident of Lake in the Hills. A Taxpayer. I have 40+ years business management background. My business experience reflects involvement with publicly held private and personal ownership. I also have 20+ years of Board of Directors experience. I am a team player and believe I can make a difference in the community.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I don't think we will be seeing a tax reduction in the state of Illinois in the near future based on the states financial condition. However, my goal is to see commercial growth within the community that should keep our tax base stable.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Red light cameras. People are afraid that they will be hit from behind at some of the intersections. I know the village has already reduced the cameras and have reported improved safety where they are and have been. If the caution light time could be extended the intersection could be cleared easier.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?At this time I don't think Lake In The Hills has an extravagant budget. I have attended Village Committee of the Whole meetings and Village Board meetings for the last 7 months in preparation to run for the Trustee position. The Village does not appear to have an extensive payroll. The Police and administration has already seen reductions.What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Jobs. Full and part time local jobs that can be made available from commercial growth and increased park district activities.
