The residents need to be kept safe when utilizing the services our schools and local businesses provide.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?I am hopeful residents will select me based on my past accomplishments and the vision I have for the future. I have proven that I the background to provide leadership, an open forum to government, fiscal responsibility and safety to our residents.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Our local sales tax is appropriate to provide what the village needs and the residents deserve during these hard economic times. It is less than or equal to the surrounding communities.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Traffic congestion seems to be the most consistent concern that is discussed. As a board, the Village must insure that our voices are heard and must be a participant in County and regional planning of transportation needs and improvements.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?The Village Revenues/expenditures are very conservative for 2011. The budget is balanced and if all goes as expected the village should be able to add to its reserves. However, the Village needs to react quickly if something out of the ordinary happens. I plan to assist with the development of benchmarks that can be used. Priorities should always be no additional tax burden onto the residents, as well as public safety.What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I would like to collaborate with our surrounding municipalities to develop public transportation for the residents to all shopping areas in the local region. This would decrease traffic congestion, improve public safety and be an environmentally friendly option for residents in McHenry County
