Experience and committee involvement is essential.Key Issue 2 Tearing down is easy to do. Building and maintaining a strong and vitally sound village takes experienced guidance by well-proven, committed, and experienced elected officials.Key Issue 3 Negative criticism doesn't address the issues of running one of the greatest villages in the Chicagoland area. Do you support immediate repeal, an increase in the tax or something in between? The property tax was a proactive requirement to avoid the need to reduce needed village operations during a depressed economy. How is the village's decades-old model of reliance on commercial development and retail sales taxes for revenue weathering the current economic downturn? Do the vulnerabilities revealed by the recession justify a major overhaul of that model?Strong economic development is demonstrated by the recent commercial establishments like Whole Foods, Crate and Barrel and Seasons 52 which have been revenue producing entities for the village. What is your attitude towards the village's ownership of the Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel Convention Center, Alexian Field and the Schaumburg Regional Airport? Should these properties be privatized? Why or why not?Through the past 11 months revenue has exceeded expenses for the Renaissance and Convention Center. Marriott is a quality business and I expect a positive upswing.Privatization of Alexian Field and the airport is not needed. Half of Alexian Field is owned by the park district. The airport brings in visitors who generate revenue.Should Schaumburg continue to run Septemberfest and other special events? Do you support the work of the cultural services department and the village#146;s continued operation of the Prairie Center for the Arts and the Trickster Gallery?Septemberfest supports itself. In fact it made a profit last year. The community enjoys this event. Prairie Center provides a variety of programs at nominal prices for the benefit of the community and its programs have been profitable this year. What significant infrastructure improvements, if any, should the village be pursuing? Why?Engineering and Public Works stay on top of infrastructure improvements and utilize grant money to limit the expense of these items. The system works well as demonstrated by Knightsbridge's smooth road improvement.
