I understand the operations and feel I also have private business experience on how to balance finances in difficult times.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.We are a resort community and our sales tax is one of our main revenues. Although our sales tax has declined over the last 2 years we are holding our own.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.One of our biggest Public Safety concern is the gangs in town and in surrounding areas. Yes they come but the Police are doing crime prevention such as policing on the housing and landlords to combat any gangs in town. We have a dedicated Police Office for this issue and have joined forces with surrounding police departments.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?I have worked with the Village over the last 4 years and we have trimmed expenses where possible and yet continue to offer the necessary services to the community. We've held a balanced budget for the last 2 years.What#146;s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I have worked with the last four administrations to work towards making Fox Lake a greater community to live in.
