What changes, if any, do you think need to be made?As as refection of our graduation rates, ACT scores and average GPA, District 95 does and excellent job preparing our student for their future. I think we can improve by in many areas such as shortening our curriculum review cycle and adopting enhanced technology in the class room. What budget issues will the district have to confront? What measures do you support to address them? If cuts are needed, be specific about programs and expenses that should be reduced or eliminated. Do you support any tax increases for local schools?Like many schools we face many budget challenges going forward. These include state payments, uncertainty over future CPI rates and aging facilities. I continue to support the conservative nature of our budget process which has resulted in the placing the district in the excellent financial condition it is in today. As a result of this I don't foresee the need to cut any programs or services in the near future. We currently do not foresee the need to raise taxes in the near term either. Is experience as a teacher or support from a union valuable because it suggests educational insights or detrimental because it creates pro-teacher bias? Please clarify whether you have such experience or would accept union support. We have two teachers on the board currently. Their insight and experience is very valuable. I have not experienced any bias from these board members. We also work very closely with our union and feel that we have an excellent working relationship with their leadership. As contract talks come up with various employee groups, what posture should the board take? Do you believe the district should ask for concessions, expect employee costs to stay about the same as they are now or provide increases in pay or benefits? The board must consider any contract negotiations in context of today's economic conditions and prevailing market considerations. I believe that we need to continue to treat our staff fairly with appropriate remuneration and benefits. We are blessed with an excellent staff that we value and respect. If your district had a superintendent or other administrator nearing retirement, would you support a substantial increase in his or her pay to help boost pension benefits? Why or why not?No I would not. That is antiquated process that has only served to increase the current pension crisis facing the state. I will not be a willing participant to furthering that.
