If yes, please explain: NoCandidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 Fiscal Responsibility. Living within your means is a phrase that is tossed around these days, but is something that I believe and support. Cary residents have been fortunate to have a Village Board that has made some tough budget decisions to keep Cary on sound financial ground. I am proud to have been a member of that board and as a Trustee I will continue to make sound financial decisions.Key Issue 2 Economic Development. Continued economic development is a way to lessen the burden on the residents of Cary. The unique attributes of the community that we love sometimes makes it a challenge to find a #8220;fit#8221; for our community. The new senior housing is one example of a new development that has added to the community -- before opening the doors -- through contributions to infrastructure improvements and donations to other governmental entities.Key Issue 3 Infrastructure Improvements. Reinvesting in the community through road and infrastructure improvements will help maintain property values and makes Cary the place where people want to live. We have just completed the first year of a three year, five million dollar road improvement program.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?Experience. I started attending the Village Board meetings after moving to Cary and have been attending regularly since 1997 as a resident, Village Clerk and now Trustee. I have the experience necessary to see the big picture and make sound decisions that will benefit the residents of Cary.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Sales tax is determined by the state as Cary is a not a home rule community.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.The Cary-Algonquin Bike Path. The residents requested a safe route along Cary-Algonquin Road, a busy county roadway. The cost of the path would have been a huge burden to the residents. I am pleased to have been a member of the Board that negotiated the funding of the path to provide a safe route along Cary-Algonquin Road.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Over the past few years, the Village Board has taken proactive steps to identify and implement reductions in the budget. We continue our proactive approach with a revenue and expenditure update/review on a monthly basisWhat's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?In an effort to support new business development and fill unoccupied commercial space in the community, I proposed a waiver of the related fees. This proposal was made at the first Board Meeting in January, discussed at the January Committee Meeting and passed by the Board on January 18, 2010.
