More seats means more fans at Dancing With Geneva Stars event

Ticket sales are brisk, but a new table arrangement will assure more people can attend this year's popular Dancing with the Geneva Stars event on Feb. 5, and have a place to sit.

While reserved tables, totaling 190 seats, were sold in advance for dance team families and made available to event sponsors, there remains plenty of seating that will allow close to 400 people to attend, or about 50 more than in past years.

β€œThe idea has been that everyone would be able to sit at a table, and there would be no standing room only needed,” said event organizer Carolyn Hill of the Geneva Cultural Arts Commission.

The event, in its third year, has been a fundraiser for the arts commission and the Geneva Academic Foundation as six dance couples seek votes β€” at $1 each β€” in online voting before the contest and with ballots cast by attendees during the event.

Valet parking starting at 6 p.m. will also be available this year, Hill said, in addition to use of more rooms at Eagle Brook Country Club for food service before the ballroom doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show.

The bars will open at 6 p.m. and food service will start at 6:30 p.m. in rooms adjacent to the bar.

Votes can be cast for participants, or tickets ordered, at genevarts.org.

Those who have attended in the past received voting ballots and ticket information by mail earlier this month.
