Glen Ellyn man struck by minivan
A 59-year-old Glen Ellyn man has been upgraded to good condition at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove after being struck by a minivan late Thursday in Glen Ellyn.
Deputy Police Chief Bill Holmer said 59-year-old Anthony Sabal was walking with traffic in the center of the eastbound lane on Hillside Avenue near Bryant Avenue about 11 p.m. when he was struck.
The 60-year-old driver of the 2003 Toyota Sienna told police he did not see the man until it was too late to avoid the accident.
The driver has not been cited but Holmer said it’s possible he will be before the investigation is complete.
“We believe drivers have the responsibility to exercise due care when operating their vehicles,” he said.
Holmer said police also plan to interview Sabal Saturday morning to learn why he was walking in the center of the street.
