Court lets Starbucks kill deal with Kraft
A U.S. District Court judge has denied Northfield-based Kraft Foods Inc. its request to halt Starbucks Corp. from taking back its packaged coffee business.
Starbucks announced in November that it was ending its distribution deal with Kraft, saying it failed to effectively market its packaged coffee in grocery stores and other retailers.
Kraft requested the injunction last month saying it needed more transition time and that it should be compensated for the value of the business.
Starbucks said Friday it plans to take the distribution duties over on March 1. Kraft did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Arbitration proceedings in the dispute are still ongoing.
