Alexian Brothers to provide externships to Sanford-Brown students

Alexian Brothers Hospital Network has formed a seven-year alliance with Sanford-Brown Colleges to provide externships to students at the colleges. Sanford-Brown, part of Schaumburg-based Career Education Corp., opened local colleges in Hillside, Skokie and Tinley Park last year. The externships will be for students studying in areas such as cardiovascular sonography, diagnostic medical sonography, surgical technology and medical assistant. Alexian Brothers also will collaborate with Sanford-Brown to develop service learning opportunities for its students to give them chances to apply classroom learning to real life problems. Sanford-Brown will work to create a scholarship program for Alexian employees interested in attending the college and has made a pledge to support the Alexian Brothers Foundation. “It was clear since our early discussions that we share an important goal of preparing students for careers in the health care field,” Tracy Rogers, Alexian Brothers chief operating officer, said in a news release. “We look forward to playing an active role in the Sanford- Brown curriculum.”
