Fenton ‘community’ should be proud
The Interact Club at Fenton High School began planning to start a Special Olympics basketball team when they met the last part of the 2010 school year. In 2010-11, they started on the path to having a team based on the foundation created in 2010.
On Jan. 19, the Fenton Field house hosted its first game for the newly formed Special Olympics Basketball Team to hundreds of watchers.
This was basketball in its purest form. With budget reductions, a sluggish economy, and politicians passing unfunded mandates to schools that need to use your tax dollars to implement those mandates, it is important to keep a few things in mind: Community makes a difference. Volunteers make a difference. You can make a difference.
There are many people who volunteered countless hours to make this team and event happen. To the athletes, coaches, student coaches, athletic boosters, cheerleaders, dance force, faculty, custodians, support staff and administration, thank you.
Fenton Community High School is known as FHS where the “Community” part is not silent but understood. Go Bison.
