Dist. 214 symphonic band concerts set for Feb. 16

District 214 will present two Symphonic Band Festivals at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16.

Buffalo Grove High School will be the host site of the concert featuring symphonic bands from Buffalo Grove, John Hersey, and Wheeling high schools.

The other concert will take place at the same time and date at Rolling Meadows High School, featuring symphonic bands from Elk Grove, Prospect, and Rolling Meadows high schools.

The Buffalo Grove concert will feature Dr. Robert Rumbelow, director of bands at University of Illinois as guest conductor. Rumbelow is conductor of the Illinois Wind Symphony, the premier concert wind band at U of I. He has appeared throughout the world, leading wind bands, orchestras, and chamber ensembles. As a composer and arranger, Rumbelow's music is performed internationally.

Band directors from the performing schools at the BGHS concert are the following: Ed Jacobi (Buffalo Grove); Scott Casagrande (Hersey), and Brian Logan (Wheeling).
