Dads discuss disabilities at D15 SPARK meeting
Special Education Parents Accessing Resources and Knowledge (SPARK) will meet 7-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at Walter R. Sundling Junior High, 1100 N. Smith St., Palatine.
All parents, educators, and administrators are invited to attend the session, which will feature “Two Dads Talking … A Dad’s Perspective on Disability.”
Richard Ney and Gino Peronti will share information about the life journey of families who live with children with special needs, and examine the impact on both the nuclear and the extended family.
Participants will learn how the child with special needs has an effect on siblings and social relationships. Information will also be shared about the systems that attempt to meet the needs of children with disabilities, including schools, legal, and medical/mental health organizations.
SPARK holds free monthly programs that feature outside speakers. Information is at ccsd15.net or contact Ani Erickson at (847) 907-4732.
