Tax protest group to meet Friday in Arlington Heights

The Northwest Suburban Taxpayers United organization, formed recently to fight rising taxes, will feature Dan Patlack, newly elected to the Cook County Board of Review, which hears property assessment appeals, as its speaker on Friday, Jan 28, in Arlington Heights. The group, seeking to build support for its agenda, is meeting at 7 p.m. in the Hendrickson Room at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library.

Its agenda includes rolling back the state income tax increase, capping pensions at 50 percent of final compensation instead of 80 percent, raising the retirement age, limiting fund balances to 10 percent of prior year revenue and freezing compensation at current levels.

The purpose of the organization is to help elected officials in identifying waste, inefficiencies or corruption and make recommendations for changes, according to a news release.
