Libertyville man gives Bears tickets to veterans
Libertyville resident Brad Buell has been a Chicago Bears season ticket holder for 10 years, but he won't be going to tomorrow's NFC Championship matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Instead, Buell's four tickets will be going to wounded veterans.
Buell tells the Chicago Tribune the decision to give away the tickets was a "no-brainer."
Buell has been working with Gov. Pat Quinn to select the most deserving veterans, and a spokesman says Quinn followed suit by buying two tickets with his own money and donating them.
In all, four Marines and two Army veterans will get the tickets.
One of them is Marine Sgt. Dave Jelinek of Downers Grove, who served three tours in the Middle East and was hit in the thigh by a grenade in Fallujah.
