Woodstock cop, 5 others injured in crash

Six people were injured, including a Woodstock police officer, after his squad car was struck while he was responding to a call Wednesday afternoon.

The Woodstock officer was driving through the intersection of Route 47 and Lake Street with his lights and sirens activated when a minivan struck the squad car, sending it into a third vehicle, according to the McHenry County sheriff's office. The crash occurred at 3:09 p.m., when the officer was responding to an “in progress call for service,” according to the sheriff's office.

The driver of the minivan, her four juvenile passengers, and the police officer were all treated at Woodstock Memorial Hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries and released Thursday, according to authorities. The driver of the minivan, a 31-year-old Woodstock woman, was cited for failure to yield to authorized emergency vehicles.
