Nixing death penalty easy way out
If the system is broken, they should have worked to fix it. Instead they take the easy way out and will abolish it.
Some say being in prison for life is worse then being executed. The criminals who have committed a heinous act murdering in cold blood someone's loved one has no remorse for what they did. It is easy for people to sit back and wipe their hands clean of the death penalty when they themselves have not experienced what some of these families have experienced.
Some representatives have said life in prison is worse then being put to death. Have they met these criminals? Have they met the families whose loved one was executed by that criminal? Have they experienced a loved one being murdered?
Yet some representative who were put in office by the people of their district felt there was no need to put it before a vote of the people. It's unbelievable we are supposed to let these people who were voted in office have the final say with something as serious as this.
We abolish the death penalty so people who kill another human being will get a slap on the hand and, oh no, life in prison. What a horrible fate. So in Illinois you do the crime, you get your life spared and there are no serious consequences for your actions.
It's so darn easy for the people that wanted the death penalty abolished to sit back and think this is wonderful. I wonder if the shoe was on the other foot and your loved one suffered a horrible death would you feel the same way.
I realize there have been extenuating circumstances when a person was on death row and then had their case overturned, but not everyone on death row is sitting there falsely accused.
Now Illinois is the land where you want to come do the crime and not be held accountable for your actions. Your life spared where the one you killed will never get justice for their life. What a great state to live in. I truly feel sorry for all the families who have lost a loved one. Once again the system fails for justice.
