Girls basketball/Tri-Cities roundup

Dazmine Chaney finished with 13 points and 4 assists Monday but it wasn't quite enough to prevent a 41-39 loss by West Aurora to Sandburg on Monday.

Freshman Liz Skaggs added 9 rebounds, Alexis Nelson 2 steals and Royalle Brown just missed a double-double with 8 points and 11 rebounds for the Blackhawks (5-13).

Aurora Christian 47, Wheaton Academy 42: Alyssa Andersen and Yvette Lira both sank two clutch free throws Saturday when the Eagles were up just 1 and 3 points, respectively, to seal the Eagles' win Saturday.

Lisa Rodriguez led Aurora Christian (4-14) with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Lira had 14 points, Andersen 9 points and Mackenzie Bollinger 8 points and 8 rebounds.

Alli Witt led Wheaton Academy with 16 points.

Rosary 45, Immaculate Conception 43: Brenda Rocha's game-winner in the final seconds lifted the Royals (6-14, 3-3) past the Knights (11-11, 1-5 Suburban Christian Blue) in Elmhurst. Rosary led 43-40 in the final minute, before IC's Brittney Reaber drove the lane and found Sabrina Santiago for a tying 3-pointer.

WW South 48, West Aurora 36: The Blackhawks jumped to an 11-7 lead after the first quarter but were outscored 17-5 in the second.

Royalle Brown led West Aurora with 14 points and Lexi Nelson scored 9.

St. Charles East 56, Jacobs 38: The Saints (6-13) avenged a 35-34 loss to Jacobs earlier this season at the Falcon Classic with this Saturday victory.

Paige Jordan (14 points) and Annie Martines (11) both scored in double figures for St. Charles East. Amanada Hilton hit two 3-pointers and scored 8 points and Dani Asquini added 7.

Kaneland 60, Streator 32: The Knights (9-12) broke the game open outscoring Streator 19-5 in the second quarter.

Nicki Ott led the Knights with 13 points making 7 of 9 free throws. Tess Alderman and Emily Heimerdinger both scored 9 points with all 9 of Alderman's coming on 3-pointers. Guerra scored 8.

Boys basketball

Bogan 61, ACC 53: In a Sunday game, Aurora Central lost 61-53 to Bogan despite 27 points by Ryan Harreld.

The Chargers are 8-9 going into their next game Saturday at the Sears Centre against Marmion.
