Palin cooked her own political goose

While it’s improper at this time to assess the political implications of how the country has responded to the insane shooting in Tucson on Jan. 8, one thing is beginning to become clear. Sarah Palin has cooked her political goose.

Starting with her harmful symbols of gun sights on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ district in Arizona, Palin represents the extreme vitriolic rhetoric which creates the atmosphere within which mentally unstable individuals like this gunman are motivated to act.

This troubled man had an inordinately negative fixation on the Congresswoman. A powerful and unnecessary gun sight symbol couldn’t have discouraged his murderous action. But the former candidate for vice-president from Alaska didn’t stop there.

On the very day at the University of Arizona, Jan. 12, that our nation was mourning this senseless tragedy, she had the unmitigated gall to create a public ad attacking liberals for hurling insults at conservatives for their “blood libel.” This totally insensitive and dispassionate co-opting of a vulnerable time in America reveals her true colors as a naive and misguided politician who has no business aspiring to national public office.

After her dubious actions both before and after this tragic loss of life and injury to our elected officials, she should abandon her political aspirations and don her overalls while extolling the fishing virtues of Alaska.
