$2.5 mil. lotto ticket sold in Island Lake

If you bought a Lotto ticket in Island Lake this week, it's time to check your numbers.

A winning $2.5 million ticket was sold at Island Lake Mobil, 226 State St.

The winning Lotto numbers from Wednesday's drawing were 9, 10, 20, 22, 36 and 45. As of Thursday afternoon, no winner had come forward.

The store will receive a bonus of $25,000 for selling the winning ticket.

Officials with the Illinois Lottery said winning tickets go unclaimed fairly often.

“It does happen a lot,” said Illinois Lottery spokeswoman Vanessa Abron.

Winning tickets can be turned in up to a year from the drawing, but after that the money is donated to the state's Common School Fund.

The state lottery's website has a list of unclaimed tickets, including one for $9 million that was sold in March of 2010 and another for $4.25 million sold in November.
