School hosts early childhood program events

Our Lady of the Wayside School in Arlington Heights is hosting two upcoming events about its early childhood programs.

Kindergarten Information Night for parents will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 in the Gathering Place. The kindergarten teachers will provide an overview of the kindergarten program, discuss the curriculum and answer any questions. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from the kindergarten teachers and parents of current kindergarten students. Principal David Wood also wil be on hand to answer any questions.

A Preschool Open House will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28 in room 115 of the preschool building. Interested parents and their future preschoolers are invited to meet the preschool teachers, hear a story, and make a craft. Principal David Wood and preschool staff will provide an overview of the program, discuss optional extension programs and answer any questions.

Principal Wood states, “Our Lady of the Wayside's outstanding preschool and kindergarten programs foster enthusiasm for discovery and knowledge, allowing children to develop into lifelong learners. The Catholic faith and love for God are woven into every aspect of education at OLW.”

The anticipated 2011-2012 Preschool schedule is:

PK-3 for 3-year-olds: two-day morning program (8:30 to 11 a.m.) or afternoon program (12:30 to 3 p.m.) on Tuesdays and Thursdays;

PK Multi-age for 3- and 4-year-olds: three-day morning program (8:30 to 11 a.m.) or afternoon program (12:30 to 3 p.m.) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays;

PK-4 for 4-year-olds: four-day morning program (8:30 to 11 a.m.) or afternoon program (12:30 to 3 p.m.) on Mondays through Thursdays.

In addition, the PK-4 program will offer optional fifth day sessions on Fridays available for the morning (8:30 to 11 a.m.), the afternoon (12:30 to 3 p.m.), or ful- day (8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

The anticipated 2011-12 kindergarten programs are half-day morning (8:15 to 11:10 a.m.) or full-day (8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Kindergarten meets Mondays through Fridays.

Reservations are recommended for the Kindergarten Information Night and the Preschool Open House and can be made by calling the school at (847) 255-0050.
