Abusive docs should lose licenses

Every day that I read another article detailing how doctors take advantage of and/or abuse their patients, I am astounded. As patients, we entrust physicians with our health and trust that they will live up to the promises they made when they took their medicinal oath. Those who misuse that trust should be ashamed of themselves, as should those who overlook the perverse actions of those doctors.

Luckily, our own state representative is looking out for the safety of patients throughout the state. Jack Franks filed legislation that mandates a doctor's license to practice medicine be revoked if they are convicted of a sexual assault, substance abuse or public aid offenses. His bill will close a loophole that should have been closed long ago.

For the sake of all patients, I hope this bill becomes a law.
