Hoffman Estates has lost true visionary

Words cannot express my sadness at the passing of Hoffman Estates native, Scott R. Triphahn. Scott empowered all those he had contact with to do things they did not know they could do.

It was though his leadership and vision that the Hoffman Estates Park District was nominated and won the coveted National Gold Medal Award. It was his vision that the park district could build the ice arena, and partner with the Chicago Wolves to bring $100,000 into the project. It was his vision and engineering expertise that the park district golf course, Bridges at Poplar Creek, renovation project was completed this past November.

As a child, people who knew him while playing Little League say he was always smiling and positive, a trait that was obvious throughout his life.

The greatest honor we can give Scott and his family is to keep his vision of “we can do” a first and foremost goal in everything we do.

My deepest sympathies go to his wife, Sue, sons Ryan and Troy, daughter Jaclyn, brothers Stephan and Jonathan, mother Barbara, and all the employees at W-T Engineering.

Scott, you will be missed. Thank you for your service to the community. Thank you for your vision.

Dr. Robert Scott Steinberg

Past president, Hoffman Estates Park District
