Make a difference in local politics

Isn't it ironic, we had this big ballyhoo about the tea parties in our last election, and they indeed did do some damage, getting some good people out of office, but what have they done to alleviate the ills that ail us locally?

We have an exorbitant property tax hike handed to us, with no chance that it will not become a permanent state of affairs. And why? Because we have politicians who will continue to give the store away in order to win the next election, because the only people who get out to vote are the same ones who are directly affected by the consequences, and the others who pay the bills stay home and sit on their hands.

As long as this situation is allowed to continue by the absence of voters who take an active interest, it will unfold in perpetuity and taxes will continue to rise and we will continue to wring our hands in supposed helplessness. Remember, people, all politics is local.
