Woman injured in Schaumburg crash
A female driver was injured in Schaumburg Monday afternoon when a car slammed into the driver's side door of her vehicle, pinning her in the car, authorities said.
The Schaumburg Fire Department responded to the crash on Schaumburg Road just west of Barrington Road at about 2:15 p.m. Monday, Batallion Chief Rick Anderson said.
A car traveling eastbound on Schaumburg Road “T-boned” the woman's vehicle as she was pulling out of a private residence, officials said.
Emergency crews were forced to extricate the woman who was stuck in the driver's seat, Anderson said.
She was conscious and alert at the scene, but rescue crews placed her on a backboard and transported her to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates with what looked like minor injuries, officials said.
“She was very lucky,” Anderson said. “We thought it would have been worse.”
The woman was issued a citation for failure to yield, police said.
Authorities did not release the woman's name.
