Water main break clogs Crystal Lake

A Monday morning water main break in Crystal Lake has left a portion of Route 176 shut down as crews work to fix the pipe.

The city's water division shut down the westbound lane of Route 176 between Main Street and Walkup Avenue because of the break, according to Director of Public Works Eric Lecuyer.

A detour around the site diverts traffic south on Maine Street to Gates Street east to Walkup Avenue and back north to Route 176.

An estimate of when the repair work would be completed was not available Monday night.

The city is advising motorists to expect delays in the area and is encouraging drivers to find alternate routes around the intersection.
