No injuries, $30,000 in damages in Wauconda house fire
Wauconda firefighters battled a blaze Saturday night that caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to a Lake Zurich home.
Firefighters were dispatched about 8:14 p.m. to the large residential structure at 25225 N. Ellrie Terrace, officials said, where they found fire showing through an exterior wall.
Fire crews, with the assistance of units from Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Countryside, Grayslake, Lake Zurich and Nunda departments, extinguished the fire at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Damage was contained the area surrounding a fireplace and chimney, officials said. Crews continued to work on the scene, performing salvage and overhaul operations until approximately 10 p.m.
The occupants of the residence were home at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported. The exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation, fire officials said.
