Hope president shows some spine

Enjoying all the fuss about the president's cave-in agreement with the Republicans. Today, Sunday, all the apologists are on the yap-yap shows spinning that it is a victory. I don't think so. This is further proof we really only have one party in the country: The money party.

Back in the first month of the president's term, he caved. I can't remember what it was, since there have been solo many more. At that time my wife and I said, “They just rolled him and now they know that they can roll him.” As time has gone by I think we were wrong.

What we have is Republican lite. Pass a bill and slap a cute label on it. That will do. Medical reform without single payer or a public option and dumping every one into the laps of the insurance companies that reform was all about in the first place. Don't bring up the secret deal made with Big Phama before even starting. Financial reform give them a stern tsk tsk. Don't reinstall the citizen protections that resulted from the Depression era and worked for 70 years.

And the list goes on and on. The president fight for the taxpayers? Don't know how. He has jumped to the Republican tune even before the midterm elections when he had the House and at least on paper the Senate by 60 votes. There goes the myth of the Chicago tough guy.

It turns out he was jumping to the moneyed elite all along. Forget bi-partisanship I want a fighter, but we're not going to get it from this guy. We can only hope that he may develop a spine as his nose gets rubbed in the dirt a few more times. We'll have to wait and see.
