NHL Capsules: Caps finally get a win

OTTAWA — Mathieu Perreault scored twice, Eric Fehr had a goal and an assist and the Washington Capitals ended their losing streak at eight games, beating the Ottawa Senators 3-2 on Sunday night.

Washington scored three times in a 6:21 span early in the second to erase a 2-0 deficit. The Capitals, who also had two goals disallowed, had been held to 11 goals during their 0-6-2 skid.

Michal Neuvirth stopped 24 shots for Washington.

Ryan Shannon and Chris Kelly scored in the first for Ottawa, which hadn't lost through regulation in its previous four games (2-0-2).

Stars 4, Red Wings 3

DETROIT — Loui Eriksson scored at 4:18 of overtime to give Dallas a comeback victory over Detroit in a game between the top two teams in the Western Conference standings.

Eriksson also had two assists, Brenden Morrow scored twice, Brad Richards added a goal and Andrew Raycroft stopped 28 shots to help Dallas pull within a point of conference-leading Detroit.

Pavel Datsyuk and Johan Franzen each had a goal and an assist and Patrick Eaves also scored for Detroit. Chris Osgood made 28 saves in an unsuccessful bid for his 400th career victory.

Eriksson scored on a wrist shot from the left circle.

Morrow tied it with 3:13 left in regulation.

Avalanche 3, Canadiens 2

DENVER — T.J. Galiardi broke a second-period tie, Craig Anderson stopped 27 shots and Colorado won its sixth straight game, beating Montreal.

Ryan Wilson and Kevin Porter also scored for the Avalanche, the highest-scoring team in the NHL. Michael Cammalleri and Alexandre Picard scored for Montreal.
