Can't allow 'Nightmare Act' to pass
Please do not support the DREAM act, better known to hard working Americans as the “Nightmare Act.” This bill before Congress is an ill-advised attempt to reward illegal immigration.
If you think 30 million illegals is too much already for our economy, just think what this amnesty will do. The flood gates will open. Supporters claim that these Illegal Immigrant children are simply innocent victims of their parents crime to illegally enter the U.S.
They further claim these children have now become accustomed to the better life in the U.S. The best response I have heard is, if the parents had robbed a bank and the children lived a better life from the robbery money, when the parents finally get caught, would we still allow the kids to keep the money? Of course not. So why are we not expecting all illegals to leave?
Even if only half of the illegal immigrants are holding a job here, that's 15 million jobs that could be going to legal residents, our children, and other U.S. citizens. Fifteen million jobs going back to legal residents, would cut our unemployment from 10 percent to 5 percent.
In addition, it's also reported that the working illegals send home almost $100 per week, which amounts to a further drain on the American economy amounting to $1.5 billion per week. Finally, think of the economic strain on our public schools, and our hospitals. We simply cannot allow this “Nightmare Act” to pass.
