Kane might be ready to return Friday vs. Wings

There was good news for the Blackhawks on two fronts Wednesday.

Dave Bolland returned to the lineup tonight against Colorado after missing Monday's game and Patrick Kane skated and might be able to return from his sprained left ankle on Friday against Detroit.

“I'm feeling pretty good, but for the timeline we'll see how things go,” said Kane, who has been out since Dec. 5 when he fell into the boards against Calgary. “I'll try to get a good team practice in (Thursday), but overall I felt pretty good.

The Hawks first projected Kane to miss three weeks so he is ahead of schedule.

“It's been 10-11 days now and it's good to be out there,” Kane said. “Friday is a possibility. I just have to see how I am in practice. One thing you don't want to do is rush the injury back. You want to take your time and make sure you're 100 percent ready.”

Kane has been bored during his time away from the team.

“There's a lot more time than you realize that is on your hands,” Kane said. “Especially when the boys left town it kind of killed me that they left a day early, too. I had to fly in my buddy for the weekend just to hang out with me.”

Kane had to watch Monday's collapse at Colorado on TV just like most fans did.

“It was kind of a fluky game,” Kane said. “I thought we played a really good game against San Jose and a really good game against Dallas. I think with the amount of injuries we've had, we've had a lot of players step up.”

Fernando Pisani (upper body) also skated Wednesday but wasn't ready to return.

“I tried to go a little bit to see how I feel,” Pisani said. “It's going day-by-day so we'll see how it feels in the next couple games and go from there. It's an injury that takes time and I don't really want to push it back.”

Marian Hossa (lower body) didn't skate Wednesday, but he did on Monday and Tuesday. It might be pushing it to expect him to return for the Red Wings.

“We'll see,” Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said. “We need to get him back on the ice to get a better idea, but he's progressing.”
