Dumpster fire spreads to Fox Lake home

A small Dumpster fire spread to a Fox Lake home on Wednesday evening, according to Fox Lake fire officials.

Firefighters were initially alerted to the blaze on Atwater Parkway around 5:10 p.m. after neighbors noticed smoke and flames coming from the Dumpster, Fox Lake Fire Battalion Chief Ed Lescher said.

According to Lescher, the Dumpster was less than a foot from the two-story home and fire spread to the first and second floors. It took firefighters about half an hour to put out the flames. Lescher estimates damages to be about $50,000.

Fire officials are still investigating what started the Dumpster fire.
