Diaz seeks re-election in District 301

Seven people filed Monday for four, 4-year terms on the Central Unit District 301 school board.

The seven who filed on the first day of filing are Rose Diaz, Dave Maracini, Rich Perry, Tim Petschke, Rick Pryor, Laura Rabe and Gary Weigand. The district does not expect anyone else to file.

Diaz, the current board president, and Weigand are the only incumbents among the seven. Perry is the former principal of Howard B. Thomas Grade School in Burlington. He worked as an educator in District 301 for 36 years before retiring in 2006.

Rabe is the president of the PTO at Prairie View Grade School in Elgin.

A lottery will be held on Dec. 21 to determine ballot placement.
