Dream Act sanitizes illegal immigration
The proposed Dream Act might solve the immigration problems of some immigrants who thought they followed all the rules to get here but got caught up in technicalities once in the U.S. More likely the Dream Act, whose main purpose is to “sanitize” the illegal status of millions of illegal-entry individuals will prove, if passed, just to be slap in the face of our forebears who came here legally and likewise to our present day immigrants from around the world who come here through the proper channels for a shot at a better life.
Aspiring legal immigrants from around the world must first jump through many legal hoops, pay hefty fees, undergo rigorous background, employment and educational checks and to have the means to navigate financially on their own upon landing on U.S. soil. The process of coming here legally can take up to one year of paper shuffling to immigrate legally. Is it that unreasonable to ask all others from south of the border and else where to do the same?
