Teens charged with stealing Salvation Army kettle in Addison

Four teens have been arrested by Addison Police for stealing a Salvation Army kettle outside of an Addison grocery store.

Megan Freeman, spokeswoman for the Addison Police Department, said the four teens will not be identified because they are juveniles. She also did not know the individual ages of the teens involved.

The kettle, stand and sign, which belong to the Salvation Army Oakbrook Terrace Corps, was valued at approximately $750. The kettle also had about $30 in bills and change when it was stolen on Dec. 4, Freeman said.

Freeman said a detective recognized two of the four teens from a video at the store just before the theft taking place.

Freeman said the detective confronted the two, and they admitted to the theft, as well as turned in the other two involved in the theft.

The four have been charged with theft and released to their parents with future court dates, Freeman said.
